EYES IN FLUX

At the heart of a technology fair, something extraordinary happens when Queen Amalie Auguste from the 18th century mysteriously appears in the present day. She sets off in search of her diamond-studded breast bow, which was stolen from the Green Vault in Dresden in 2019. A theft that intertwines colonial history, class issues, justice and the art world and allows Amalie to travel through time in quantum leaps.

Misdirection techniques are presented in an expansive installation and performances in which supposed magic and algorithmic prediction meet. Misdirection is a craft used to manipulate perception and visual memory; it is used in sorcery and warfare, in politics and for criminal purposes such as theft.
