Fabula is the latest film by director Michiel ten Horn (Hotel Sinestra,
Aanmodderfakker). In this absurdist crime drama, ten Horn brings the folklore and fantastic history of Limburg to life.

Jos (Fedja van Huêt), a petty criminal from a family of born losers, feels completely marginalized. Much to his frustration, his daughter has lost all respect for him, his wife distrusts him and his friends no longer take him seriously. When his somewhat clumsy son-in-law Özgür (Sezgin Güleç) offers him an opportunity to regain his reputation with a lucrative drug deal, Jos seizes the chance immediately. But the deal goes completely off the rails. Jos has to find a way to put things right. Together with Özgür and his father, he embarks on a desperate journey from the swamps to the rolling hills of Limburg and back, always searching for an answer to the agonizing question: "Who or what is punishing me like this?"
