Fährmannsfest 2024

The Fährmannsfest is the largest alternative open-air music festival in the Hanover region and also an extraordinary summer festival for all generations. Since 1983, Hanover has been celebrating on the first weekend in August at the confluence of the Ihme and Leine rivers with lots of cultural performances, picturesque sunsets over the water and socializing well into the summer night.

"Colorful instead of brown" - this slogan, which is now often used, was originally coined at the Fährmannsfest. The motto aptly describes the character of the open-air event, as both the program and the audience are colourful and diverse. The Fährmannsfest is a meeting place for the neighborhood from Linden, Nordstadt and Calenberger Neustadt, an alternative event highlight for Hanover and beyond, it is a festival for children and a living example of cultural participation for people with disabilities.

Nationally and even internationally renowned bands play on the music stage on Fährmannsinsel. On the other hand, the audience can also discover exciting newcomer acts from the region. The Fährmannsfest is not a festival of one genre: with a mix of rock, punk, indie, alternative and ska, for example, there is something for many music enthusiasts. Tickets for the program on the music stage on Friday and Saturday are available in advance (including via the link here on the website) and at the box office. On Sunday, admission is traditionally free.

The Children's Festival's Colorful Stage on the Faust Meadow offers a wide range of programs - from campfire romance with guitar to jazz and experimental electro, from literature to comedy to fashion shows, everything is possible here. A highlight every year is the "Macht Worte! Open Air Poetry Slam". Free admission to the Bunte Bühne program.

The ultimate special feature of the Fährmannsfest is the big children's festival on the Faust meadow (Free admission). The youngest guests can have fun with numerous playful, sporting and creative activities. There are also many information stands on the meadow from initiatives, associations, parties and NGOs that encourage people to make the world a better place - colorful instead of brown. Market stalls with a variety of handmade goods from near and far invite you to stroll around and buy. There will also be plenty to eat and drink. So let's go on a family outing on Saturday and Sunday to the children's festival at the Fährmannsfest! Free admission to the music stage at the traditional family day on Sunday.
