Fährmannsfest mit Monsters Of Liedermaching, Kai & Funky von Ton Steine Scherben feat. Birte Volta, Jumi, Die Crew von der bunten Kuh sowie Kinderfest und Butjerfest
In the organizer's words:
The Fährmannsfest takes place on the banks of the Leine and Ihme rivers from July 31 to August 2. There is a varied program for all generations on the music stage on Fährmannsinsel, at the children's festival and on the Colourful Stage on Faust-Wiese.
Free admission to the program on the Colourful Stage, the Children's Festival and the Butjerfest on the Faust Meadow.
You can experience the Bunte Bühne:
The restless half-dozen of the Monsters Of Liedermaching once again embark on a cultural caper. In addition to many of their beloved evergreens, there will be several handfuls of future anthems, soon-to-be hits and upcoming classics to listen to and marvel at.
After the influential rock band Ton Steine Scherben disbanded in 1985, the two original Scherben Kai Sichtermann and Funky K have been touring to this day. Since 2023, they have been playing together with singer-songwriter Birte Volta.
Julia Scheeser, singer and Passepartout member, dares to make a new start. As Jumi, she sings about rebellions against fear. And delivers indie pop songs that are intended to empower and change.
Sometimes loud, sometimes quiet, sometimes completely weird, Die Crew von der bunten Kuh tells of their adventures at sea. Familiar melodies meet new lyrics that go straight to the ear and quickly sweep everyone away.
Games, creativity and fairytale magic
Two days full of fun and shared experiences for the whole family await young and old at the Fährmanns Kinderfest on August 1 and 2 on the Faust-Wiese. There will be lots of hands-on activities and creative offers to discover and try out.
Highlights include several bouncy castles where children can let off steam. They can get creative by working with soapstone and taking part in an art activity where every child can take part in a colorful community painting. Face painting, tattoos and movement games also ensure a fun time at the festival. Another special experience will be a storyteller who will present exciting stories like in a play and encourage the children to join in.
In addition to the activities for children and the Bunte Bühne program, there is even more to discover on the Faust-Wiese: On the one hand, the local community "Aktion Limmerstraße" is represented with stands from businesses from Limmerstraße and the surrounding area. On the other hand, various organizations will be providing information about their work on the so-called "NGO Mile", including Amnesty International, Greenpeace, Sea Punks and FAJ Hannover.
Lots of program at the Butjerfest
The Butjerfest has always stood for solidarity and participation in community life. At the traditional Fannystraße children's festival, which was established at the end of the 19th century, the residents put on a huge party for their children once a year, despite the financial hardship, to treat them to a day of singing and dancing, puppet shows, a raffle and, of course, lots of cake.
At the Butjerfest 2026 on Sunday, August 2 in the Almstadtweg/Stärkestraße area, little Butjers will once again have lots of fun doing crafts, painting, doing puzzles and playing the traditional Linden children's games during the stamp pass campaign. The adults will also not miss out on the "longest coffee table in Linden" with donated cakes, intergenerational discussions and a colorful cultural program.
At 13:45, the traditional Butjer parade will start at the "Fannystraße history window" of the Andrea Apotheke (Limmerstraße 17). From there it goes through Linden to Faust-Wiese. At 14:00, district mayor Rainer-Jörg Grube will open the Butjerfest. The cultural program includes Christian Fahrenheit, the Feminist Women's Choir of the Egon Kuhn Geschichtswerkstatt im Freizeitheim Linden e. V., the senior dance group "Lebensfreude" and young people from the twin city of Bristol with a dance performance.
Children can take part in entertaining activities organized by numerous institutions in order to obtain the "Butjer Diploma". This year's participants are: Linden Volunteer Fire Brigade, Victoria Linden, Zinnober Toy Museum, LindenLimmer Foundation, "Iron and Steel" Factory Museum, "ZuKunst", Hanover Darts Sports Club, Egon Kuhn History Workshop, Linden Leisure Center, the "Falken", NiL - Normal in Linden, BUND Climate Office and Kestner Society.
Church inspires the Fährmannsfest guests
For the third time, the Linden-Limmer Evangelical-Lutheran congregation is taking part in the Fährmannsfest - with several activities: an ecumenical church service, festival pastoral care and activities for children and families.
With a photo wall campaign under the theme "Church in Linden and Limmer gives wings", the Protestant church is adding another attraction to the Faustwiese. There are cozy beanbags by the hot air balloon where visitors to the festival can relax. In front of it, billboards invite you to have your photo taken with different types of wings behind you.
The church location at the Fährmannsfest is also intended to serve as the festival's pastoral care. Volunteers and full-time staff will be available at a contact bar for conversations of all kinds, and popcorn will be served.
On Sunday, August 2, an ecumenical church service will take place on the Colorful Stage at 11 am.
