Fakear now has a residency at Gretchen and visits regularly with guests. Fakear integrates global musical influences into innovative music, creating spaces and opportunities for cross-genre collaborations and encounters. An approach that we support with our residencies. To kick things off, he has invited Berlin-based producer Projektbau .

French musician, producer and beatmaker Fakear has been working on his own vision of global electronica since 2011. He combines world music, hip-hop, modern beats and various electronica styles, be it European house textures, post-dubstep or other sounds from the British and American underground. The result is floating melodies and complex rhythm structures that often create a meditative atmosphere: instinctive and organic, cinematically indulgent and concrete at the same time. Inspired by the likes of Bonobo, Flume, Kaytranada, Odesza and Flying Lotus, he is constantly developing his sound aesthetic, pursuing more experimental approaches and increasingly integrating field recordings and acoustic sounds.

Projektbau's artistic influence and inspiration have never been tied to a specific local scene. Based in Berlin, but never at home anywhere and growing up as a nerd in a small town, the actual community has always been digital and decentralized. Influenced by a wide variety of genres, Projektbau searches for a coherent and distinctive sound to tell personal stories authentically. Building on the emotional sounds of artists such as Burial and Overmono, Projektbau offers a nostalgic and introspective take on music that lends itself to emotional rollercoaster rides in the club, best experienced while dancing.
