Dissident Bodies
How can technological potential be reappropriated and those playful, emancipatory ideas that have always designed other worlds be made visible? Drawing on cyberfeminist theories, Fallon Mayanja develops a performance at the intersection of race, class and sexuality. In the electro-organic interstice of contemporary utopias, a practice unfolds that refuses normative attributions as well as any form of identitary definition - and draws its productive power precisely from this. In the interweaving of sound and visual material, an attempt is made to question socially shaped forms of seeing and feeling. The performance understands the glitch as a political strategy: as a moment of disruption that destabilizes predetermined categories and makes new forms of subjectivity conceivable.
Fallon Mayanja is an author, sound artist and performer. Working with language, sound and choreography, Fallon explores hybrid bodies, voices and new narrative forms. The idea of body in space, space without body and space as body is at the center of her artistic practice.
