Of pipes, strings and keys - on a journey of discovery through music history

What did our instruments actually look like 300 years ago? Did the piano already exist in the Middle Ages? What do snakes have to do with musical instruments? We want to take you on a tour of our museum and show you how you can get sounds from wood and air and what exciting inventions people used to make music. Have you ever tried how much force you need to blow air into the large organ pipes? Or have you ever seen a piano play by magic? We cordially invite you to join us on our journey of discovery through the world of music.

Afterwards, we would like to try out instruments with you in the sound laboratory, experience vibrations and feel sounds. Here you can create your own music.

The meeting point is in the foyer of the GRASSI opposite the ticket office. The entrance ticket for our museum is valid. Information on the topics can be found under Calendar.

Sundays are FAMILY TIME at the GRASSI: the whole family can live out their creativity during family and grandchildren's time or on themed afternoons. First there is a tour of the exhibitions in each of the three GRASSI museums, followed by activities for young and old. The family activities offered by the GRASSI museums alternate between our museum, the GRASSI Museum of Ethnology and the GRASSI Museum of Applied Arts.
