Two hip-hop dancers and the romantic music of Franz Schubert? Four hands on the piano and two bodies trained in battles and freestyle? That sounds like a daring combination.

Portuguese choreographer Marco da Silva Ferreira has created an astonishing duo to Schubert's 'Fantasy in F minor', which precisely follows the melancholy and yearning music. However, the two dancers from the Centre Chorégraphique National in Caen wear boots instead of lace, but also dance with lace. The duo thus becomes a duel with a bad-boy attitude, with bent backs and spread legs... On the other hand, the two take up the rhythm of the music, sometimes with a pas de deux that is both friendly and competitive, sometimes with twitching shoulders or legs, then again with lifts, glissés, piqués and distorted pointes...

This fantasy minor has a tenderly explosive energy that grips the dancers' bodies. They move between burlesque and classical, between ballet and urban dance, they become light, the hip-hop codes are suspended, the seemingly distant worlds find each other in a new space of exchange, grace and sensitive interaction. The KunstFestSpiele present this half-hour, virtuoso and surprising piece by Marco da Silva Ferreira in the magnificent Herrenhausen Gardens.
