Father Mother Sister Brother
In the organizer's words:
Starring Tom Waits, Adam Driver, Mayim Bialik, Charlotte Rampling, Cate Blanchett, Vicky Krieps, Sarah Greene, and Indya Moore. A tragicomedy by Jim Jarmusch. Golden Lion, Venice Film Festival 2025. Now playing at the Tilsiter Lichtspiele.
FATHER MOTHER SISTER BROTHER is a feature film carefully composed as a triptych. The three stories revolve around the relationships of adult children with their sometimes distant parents and with one another. Each of the three chapters is set in the present, each in a different country: FATHER is set in the northeastern United States, MOTHER in Dublin, and SISTER BROTHER in Paris. It is a series of character studies—quiet, observational, and non-judgmental—and at the same time a comedy interwoven with subtle threads of melancholy.
In his latest stroke of genius, iconic director Jim Jarmusch has a star-studded cast explore the complexities of family relationships. FATHER MOTHER SISTER BROTHER won the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival.
Three stories concerning the relationships between adult children, their somewhat distant parent (or parents), and each other: a reclusive father visited by his grown children in the U.S., sisters visiting their novelist mother in Dublin, and adult twins called back to their Paris apartment to deal with a family tragedy.
