The new VR production by RAUM+ZEIT focuses on Thomas Mann to mark the 150th anniversary of his birth. Based on his magnum opus "Doctor Faustus", written in exile in California during the Second World War, RAUM+ZEIT tells of the prohibition of love as a pact with the devil. When Thomas Mann reads the chapter in which the protagonist's beloved foster son dies a gruesome death to the assembled family in the living room of his villa on San Remo Drive in Los Angeles, there is general horror. Meanwhile, Frido, Thomas Mann's favorite grandson, who looks exactly like the dead child, is playing in a corner. RAUM+ZEIT interweaves novel and biography, virtual and live scenes to create a dreamlike play about reality and fiction, art and life, desire and guilt.
