The Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra invites you to a big open-air party at the Rilling-Areal. The audience can look forward to an afternoon of the very finest music—from classical to rock and hip-hop—in a relaxed summer atmosphere. Free admission. Eiswägele and a food truck will be on site to provide refreshments.
On two outdoor stages and at additional venues in the old cellar buildings, visitors can enjoy a diverse program spanning various genres from 2:00–6:00 p.m. There’s something for every age and every musical taste. Many groups from Bad Cannstatt and school classes will also be performing. The Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra will perform in various formations, including collaborations with other guests. The joint performance with the newly founded fan orchestra is highly anticipated. Also taking the stage will be beatboxer Pheel, bassist Sebastian Schuster, rapper Conejo, and other performers. Local bands and acts will bring the rock vibe. The Bad Cannstatt Trombone Choir will let the sounds of brass echo far across the city from the Rilling roof.
A Big Stage for Children and Teens, Too
Young musicians will play a key role at the Fest am Neckar. The participating children and teens have prepared for their performances through workshops, coaching sessions, and rehearsals with the SKO connect team and orchestra members. The festivities kick off with a musical parade through Cannstatt’s old town featuring students from Martin Luther Elementary School, accompanied by puppet shows and sound mobiles. Another highlight: In the spacious, now completely cleared-out storage cellar, students from Kepler High School will perform an improvisation they developed themselves, featuring percussionist Tom Goemare and violinist Ulrike Stortz (3:15 p.m.). During the performance by the Ukrainian children’s choir “Sonnenblumen,” there will even be an opportunity to sing along.
Classical, Hip-Hop, and Tango
On the main stage, starting at 4:00 p.m., the SKO will join forces with the Fan Orchestra to present a varied program featuring music by Grieg, Rota, Sibelius, and Wirén. The SKO will then take the stage on its own with Bach’s festive Brandenburg Concerto and Bartók’s lively Romanian Folk Dances. Starting at 5:00 p.m., the beat will pick up during the hip-hop session featuring rapper Conejo, beatboxer Philip Scheibel (aka Pheel), and Sebastian Schuster on bass and Rhodes. Afterward, the Tango Sí! quartet will bring the evening to a fiery close (5:30 p.m.).
For Younger Guests
There’s plenty on offer for young guests and their families as well. Puppeteer Emilen Truche will present one of his creations on stage, accompanied by live music. In the instrument workshop, visitors of all ages can get creative with their hands and ears. And with the “Sonnenblumen” children’s choir, everyone is welcome to sing along.
