About the author:
Jens Kastner worked as a journalist in Taiwan for 15 years.
His articles have been published by renowned newspapers such as the Financial Times, NikkeiAsia, Al Jazeera and the South China Morning Post.

Dürer's real name is Olaf Gerdes and he is an anti-hero, as he is in the book. Childhood trauma, drug addiction and little prospect of a better future. But one night in a Berlin techno club brings him into contact with two young Taiwanese women and gives him an idea: get out of everyday life and go to Taiwan as an English teacher! Dürer hopes to make a fresh start, far away from the problems he can't get to grips with at home. He makes a fresh start in Asia: from problem case to English teacher in kindergarten and then on to journalism.
