FIBA 3×3 ING Hamburg Challenger 2024

3×3 basketball once again captivated spectators at the Olympic Games, not least because of the sensational gold medal won by the German women. Just a few weeks after Paris 2024, the people of Hamburg will once again have the opportunity to experience this spectacular sport up close at the end of September at the FIBA 3×3 ING Hamburg Challenger in the brand new Georg-Elser-Halle in the Grüner Bunker St. Pauli.

On September 27 and 28, 16 of the best 3×3 men's teams in the world will be battling it out for a total prize money of 50,000 US dollars, including perhaps one or two medal winners from Paris. The winner of the Challenger in Hamburg will also qualify for the FIBA 3×3 World Tour stop in Neom/Saudi Arabia.

The FIBA 3×3 ING Hamburg Challenger is the first major sporting event in the Bunker St. Pauli. The former World War II bunker, which borders Heiligengeistfeld and Feldstraße, has been converted into the "Green Bunker" in recent years and has been open to the public since the beginning of July. Within a very short space of time, it has become a tourist magnet. High up in the bunker is the Georg Elser Hall, which is to be used for sporting and cultural events. The center court for the FIBA 3×3 ING Hamburg Challenger will also be set up there. Free admission for spectators, access is via the bunker's mountain path.

This is the third time that a top-class international 3×3 tournament has been held in Active City Hamburg. In 2021, the Challenger was held on Spielbudenplatz and in 2022 on Heiligengeistfeld.
