After an accident, photographer Jeff (James Stewart) spends a few weeks in his apartment with his leg in plaster. Bored, he watches the goings-on in the neighboring apartments across the courtyard through his window. Mysterious things seem to be happening directly opposite. His observations soon culminate in a serious suspicion.
Nominated for an Oscar in 1955 for "Best Director" (Alfred Hitchcock), "Best Adapted Screenplay" (John Michael Hayes), "Best Cinematography (Color Film)" (Robert Burks) and "Best Sound" (Loren L. Ryder).
