What is it about?

Loosely based on the novel by Stefan Zweig.

An evening of bowling, a misunderstanding - and a moment that changes two lives. Isaac, a young soldier in the German army, wants to impress his sister when he asks the grumpy Edith to play. Only when she sinks limply to the ground does he recognize the wheelchair at her side. Driven by shame, Isaac seeks to get close to the woman he has hurt. An unusual relationship develops between the two - full of compassion, hope and growing dependence. But the harder Isaac tries to "heal" Edith, the deeper they become entangled in a web of guilt, self-deception and longing.

After the screening

After the film, we look forward to a discussion with director Lauro Cress and the main actors Ladina von Frisching and Giulio Brizzi. Together, we will take a look behind the scenes and talk about Stefan Zweig's timeless story of compassion, guilt and the consequences of thoughtless actions - and what relevance it has for our times. An evening for anyone interested in this powerful and moving reinterpretation of Zweig's only completed novel.
