Through the unexpected inheritance of an abandoned house in Normandy, four cousins discover a mysterious family history. In 1895, a 21-year-old ancestor leaves her hometown to travel to Paris in search of her mother. She discovers a city on the cusp of modernity, with the advent of photography and the birth of impressionist painting. Eventually, the two timelines of 1895 and 2024 intertwine and collide. And there are tongue-in-cheek reunions with pretty much everything that had a name in the French avant-garde - whether in painting, literature or on the stage.
