Filmvorführung „Eine Liebe in Deutschland“
In the organizer's words:
West Germany/France 1983, Director: Andrzej Wajda, 97 min., Original version with subtitles, FSK 12
A stranger arrives with his son in the small southern German village of Brombach, near the Swiss border. He tries to understand what happened there during World War II. The people of Brombach, however, want nothing to do with it, for they wish to forget their guilt: In 1941, Pauline, a fruit and vegetable vendor, runs her husband’s shop while he serves as a soldier on the front lines. The work is hard, and her only help comes from Stanislaw, a Polish forced laborer. They fall in love and plunge into a passionate affair—a forbidden love.
The film *A Love in Germany* is based on the book of the same name by Rolf Hochhuth, which is based on true events.
