About the exhibition: How does it feel to be surrounded by people you can't categorize? Kazuki Koga knows this feeling. The Tokyo-born painter has been living in Leipzig since 2019, in a culture that is foreign to him. Koga draws on this experience to create dreamlike scenes of Leipzig's urban landscape. His figures are often in company and yet remain alone. The fleeting condenses into intense moments, so familiar that you feel as if you were there.
In Japanese, the saying goes: "Even the striping of sleeves is a link of fate. We brush glances, jackets, shoulders, faces every day. What remains of these - seemingly chance - encounters?
