FINISSAGE / TAMARA ADLOFF / »EIN WELTTHEATER«

In the organizer's words:

We are opening the new exhibition season at gausz with an extensive exhibition of collages and paintings by the artist Tamara Adloff, who died in August 2022.

Tamara Adloff, the third of four siblings, was born in Paderborn in 1952 and studied fine arts and music at the conservatory in Munich. As a pianist, violinist and singer, she initially pursued a career in opera before later devoting herself entirely to painting for health reasons. Her paintings are nourished by the indignation that the view of human civilization brings, coupled with pain, bitter realism in a world in which there are hardly any fixed truths.

Love made Tamara pull up stakes and emigrate to the north of France, where she found a new home alongside her husband Jean-Louis Martinotysie, director of the Paris Opera, in the small town of Joiselle. The renowned artist exhibited in Germany, Luxembourg and Paris. She also created stage sets and props for an opera show with the Janequin ensemble, which toured France, Austria and Japan.

In the last years of her life, due to her failing health, she devoted herself exclusively to collage - classically designed with scissors, without a computer. Her "poetic realism" and her ecological commitment are strongly expressed in her collages, coupled with a humor that is as devastating as it is playful. In the collages - protest against the destruction of the environment - one can rediscover the spirit and themes that also characterized Tamara Adloff's painting:
The protection of wildlife and the environment, the rejection of destructive industrialization .

After Martinotysie's death, Tamara Adloff returned to Germany in 2018 to be with her family. Her fragile state of health severely restricted her new start in Germany. Nevertheless, she enjoyed living with her siblings for as long as she could. Tamara died at home on 17.08.2022, surrounded by her siblings.

The pictures can be viewed at gausz until October 3 by appointment (0151-11636313).
