Finnish Brunch & Book with Katrin Faludi

The Walloon-Dutch Community of Hanau and Little Finland invite you to a special literary morning on Saturday, September 19, 2026. Under the title “Finnish Brunch & Book,” guests can look forward to a Nordic-inspired brunch starting at 11 a.m., featuring a reading by author Katrin Faludi from her latest novel, *The House at the End of the World*.

“Katrin Faludi is a master of atmospheric writing. From the very beginning, she creates an intense tension that runs through the entire novel. You find yourself breathlessly following her characters even when they’re just sitting motionless on a dock,” writes Verena Linde, author and editor at Gruner + Jahr.

The novel centers on Henning, who, together with his daughter Mai, is trying to cope with the aftermath of a serious horseback riding accident. When Mai suddenly disappears, Henning’s desperate search leads him to Finland, to a remote location near the Russian border where his daughter spent her early years. There, he uncovers a long-hidden family secret that forces him to confront his own past. The journey becomes a quest for identity, forgiveness, and a fresh start—a moving novel about honesty, boundaries, and crossing them, as well as the hope for healing.
