Fitzcarraldo - Directed by Werner Herzog
The eccentric Brian Sweeney Fitzcarraldo is obsessed with the idea of building a grand opera house in the middle of the untouched Amazon jungle. Using the savings of his girlfriend, the brothel owner Molly, Fitzcarraldo buys an old river steamboat. He plans to sail it into an undeveloped rubber-tapping region to earn the money needed to build the opera house. Indigenous people help him expand his rubber trade.
