Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist with solo project
Michael Peter Balzary aka Flea is one of the most influential and best bassists of his generation. As a founding member and bassist of the band Red Hot Chili Peppers, his bass sound has helped shape modern funk rock like no other. He has also played with artists and bands such as Johnny Cash, The Mars Volta, Tom Waits, Nirvana and many others and has been part of several supergroups.
Since the 1980s, Flea has also made a career as an actor and played roles in films such as "Back to the Future" Part II and Part III, "The Big Lebowsky", "Baby Driver" and many more. Since 2025, he has dedicated himself to his solo project and released his solo debut single "A Plea", hinting at the release of his solo debut album, which is expected in 2026. On the song, Flea embraces his jazz roots and gives free rein to his skills on trumpet, bass and vocals with experimental rhythms for eight minutes. The accompanying music video, in which he acts, dances and choreographs himself, is equally expressive.
On "The Honora Tour", Flea will perform at Berlin's Heimathafen on May 21, 2026, where the musician will present his solo project live for the first time. Flea will be supported by the magnificent Honora Band, consisting of saxophonist Josh Johnson, guitarist Jeff Parker (Tortoise), percussionist Mauro Refosco (Atoms For Peace) as well as Rickey Washington (alto flute), Deantoni Parks (drums), Anna Butterss (double bass), Vikram Devasthali (trombone) and Chris Warren (vocals).
