In the organizer's words:

Luisa and Kilian from holzwerkstattzwei are passionate about working with solid wood and operate at the interface between object and interior design and craftsmanship. Their work is characterized by a deep understanding of materials and techniques. As guests at waslangewert, they are opening up a workspace for learning exciting techniques from the furniture trade with this wickerwork workshop. Participants can expect an extensive workshop to learn and deepen their knowledge of the craft of weaving with paper yarn. At the end, you will take your very own piece of furniture home with you.

What you can expect:

In this workshop, you will receive an introduction to weaving with paper cord and learn various techniques. A wooden frame serves as the base, which is first prepared for weaving. You will then cover the seat with a pattern you have chosen or developed yourself and give the object your own signature - creating your very own piece of furniture that you can take home with you.

The workshop concept:

• Preparation of the wooden frame
• Introduction to weaving with paper yarn and different weaving techniques
• Individual design process with personal support
• Experimental learning and application of different weaving patterns
• Challenging in terms of craftsmanship, but open to motivated beginners

The workshop is aimed at people with an interest in handicrafts and a desire for a challenge. Some experience is helpful, but not a prerequisite. Newcomers are also welcome if they enjoy concentrated work. At the end, you will be proud of the stool you have covered yourself.

Key data:

The workshop lasts approx. 4 hours including introduction, preparation of the base frame, weaving phase and exchange. The course leader accompanies the entire workshop and is available for support and assistance.

The workshop will take place at Grindelallee 129 in Hamburg. The events are hosted by waslangewert in cooperation with holzwerkstattzwei. The premises are supported by the Hamburger Kreativ Gesellschaft. All tools and materials are available. Drinks are available on a donation basis.
