Flinta* Session

In the organizer's words:

The Flinta* Session at domicil is intended to create a safe space for all those female* musicians who want a stage outside the predominantly cis-male dominated jazz and session scene. No more top dogs, cockfights and leading wolves, let's finally take up space, jam and have fun!

The session will be started by a Flinta*-led opener band and then open to all Flinta* people who want to jam together on jazz standards and similar music. Even inexperienced musicians* can join in, just come along! Of course, cis-men are also allowed and welcome in the audience.

This time, the opening band will be trumpeter Luzie Micha from Essen with her quintet Ruji.

With Ruji, Luzie Micha brings a quintet to the stage that is not only about music, but also about a shared experience that is always new in its uniqueness.
With her compositions, the trumpeter from Essen not only wants to unfold her own musical visions, but also create a space for the creativity of all band members.

In the music, every moment becomes a fusion of ideas in which the band finds new paths together and presents the compositions again and again in unexplored worlds of sound.

In this way, Ruji creates unrepeatable moments with a mixture of groove and free improvisation - full of energy and characterized by an atmosphere in which dense soundscapes meet fragile, floating spaces.
