Flohmarkt auf dem Karolinenplatz

The flea market at Karolinenplatz is both a tradition and a cultural institution. Here, you can browse, haggle, strike up conversations, and stock up on interesting items. The flea market usually takes place once a year and is limited exclusively to the grounds of Karolinenplatz.

Whether it’s everyday items, toys for kids, trendy secondhand clothing, books, or home décor, there are always special finds to discover at the flea market for visitors of all ages.

This year, there will also be a specialsection for vintage and secondhand itemsbetween the State Archives and the State Museum.

The flea market is open from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. Starting at 8 a.m., Spagerer Crêpes will be serving coffee and crêpes for a sweet breakfast; for those with a bigger appetite, Wilfrid Grupe’s food stand will offer bratwurst, fries, and savory dishes.

Fees
The stall fee is 6 euros per running meter of usable space and is collected in cash on-site by Darmstadt Marketing.
 

Stalls may be set up starting Saturday morning at 5:00 a.m. Business owners, including itinerant vendors, are not permitted to participate in the flea market. Vehicles are not permitted on the flea market grounds (no loading or unloading). Bulky goods (furniture and similar items) and animals may not be sold at the flea market. The sale of food and beverages is also prohibited. Unsold items must be taken home.

The sales area should not exceed 3 x 1 meter (the size of a wallpapering table). Setting up small umbrellas (approx. 2.50 m in diameter) is permitted. Participants should bring only as much luggage or merchandise as they can carry themselves.

To ensure a smooth and fair setup process, the organizing team—supported by the local police—will monitor the times. All participants are asked to follow the instructions; violations may result in removal from the premises or fines. These checks are in everyone’s best interest and ensure a successful and relaxed market.

Restrooms are available on the flea market grounds.
