"As a musician, I seek freedom" (Florian Willeitner)

His passion for traveling is at least as strong as his passion for music. The devil violinist and composer Florian Willeitner knows Europe and a few more beautiful spots on this earth like the back of his hand, or rather: like his rucksack with the violin case strapped on, because the violin is always with him. Whether Irish fiddle, Parisian accordion, Balkan folk or Alpine yodeling, Willeitner makes the character of various musical dialects his own and transforms each of them into a unique piece for strings. The "Violin Road Stories" - a world premiere in collaboration with the SKO - are a travelogue peppered with poetry, curiosity, joie de vivre and ecstasy and a dash of self-irony. Florian Willeitner is also a passionate crossover artist between classical music, jazz, world music and other continents of music. For many years, he has performed internationally as the primarius of the vision string quartet, as composer and violinist of the New Piano Trio (his fugue cycle "What the Fugue" was published in 2024), as founder of the international artist collective "Pool of Invention" and as creative partner at renowned festivals such as the Mozartwoche under Rolando Villazón.

The concert is supported by Allianz, which has been an official partner of Sternstunden since the 2020 season.
