In the organizer's words:
Whether it’s *Eclipsed*, *ROCKS*, *Good Times*, or *Classic Rock*: Almost all the major rock magazines are currently falling over themselves with rave reviews and full-page features on FLYING CIRCUS and their latest album, *The Eternal Moment*.
ROCKS editor-in-chief Daniel Böhm himself describes the group from the Rhineland as “a band that deserves all of our attention,” and Joe Asmodo from eclipsed compares them to Deep Purple and Black Sabbath as well as King Crimson and Yes—a spectrum ranging from powerful hard rock to dexterous prog, a space where FLYING CIRCUS themselves feel very much at home and would likely cite Led Zeppelin, Kansas (the violin!), and Pink Floyd as further points of reference.
And this is by no means just “critics’ love”: Even before their latest album, “The Eternal Moment,” their previous two studio releases each spent a full ten weeks in the Top 20 of the German rock/metal charts—and in 2022, Deutschlandfunk even dedicated a one-hour feature to the band on “Rock et cetera.” No wonder, then, that Flying Circus is currently considered one of the hottest hidden gems on the German scene.
In short: If you’re into sophisticated ’70s rock of all kinds but would rather experience fresh compositions “in the classic style”—performed in an absolutely captivating way—instead of tribute bands, you definitely shouldn’t miss FLYING CIRCUS.
Flying Circus has secured the Hamburg-based band Johnny Bob as a special guest; with five albums to their credit, Johnny Bob has also already made a name for itself in the German progressive rock scene. As early as their second album, “Fjodor and the Watergiant,” the magazine “eclipsed” predicted that the band—which always delivers compelling live performances—would “soon become one of the biggest bands on the national progressive scene.” A promise that Johnny Bob certainly fulfilled with their concept album “The Glass Hotel Tapes,” if not sooner.
Despite audible nods to the genre’s classic bands, neither band sees itself as a retro act—rather, they are musicians who, while carrying their formative influences in their DNA, recombine these elements into fresh, exciting, and original rock music. If you love rock that’s powerful, full of character, and full of surprises—then this concert is an absolute must-see.
