Old Town Festival with Exciting Folk Music

For one summer evening, the Heger-Tor district, with its unique atmosphere, becomes a stage for music from around the world. As they stroll through the historic alleys to the sound of music, visitors will encounter numerous solo artists and bands starting at 7:30 p.m.

Ahmed Eid

Ahmed Eid is one of the most influential Palestinian artists of his generation. His music tells of heritage, resistance, hope, and freedom—stories of liberation that he brings to life through his distinctive musical language. He combines captivating rhythms with poetic lyrics while also nurturing the next generation of creative talent.
His roots in Palestine and his two-decade career in Europe—including as a co-founder of the internationally acclaimed band Bukahara—have shaped Ahmed Eid into an extraordinary bassist, percussionist, and singer-songwriter. With passion, he creates a versatile sound that resonates on stages worldwide.

7:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. in the Old Town:

HEINERICH

(“HEIN,” “ER,” and “ICH”) present songs in Low German that are a far cry from any coastal romanticism. Folk- and rock-inspired songs take the stage, in which singer Heinerich Weyer (“ICH”) primarily reflects on his youth in the Emsland region. In short: The songs are all about mopeds, the monotony of the flatlands, Weyer’s teenage sweetheart Manuela, and—apparently unavoidable in rural areas—alcohol consumption!

CRASHandOH

Irish party folk for beer, bellies, and dancing—that’s what the seasoned musicians of CRASHandOH have been celebrating for twenty-five years. When the trio gets going, it’s always party time. The audience gets quite a show. This includes soulful ballads, frenzied jigs and reels, as well as plenty of songs from the inexhaustible repertoire of drinking and rowdy tunes. It’s only when the crowd really gets fired up, breaks into sweaty dance routines, and the stomping and clapping get louder than the music that CRASHandOH really feels at home.

Under the bright Berlin sky, fate brought Brea and Dom together at an open mic night in 2019. Fascinated by each other’s artistry as singer-songwriters, they soon found themselves in a joint songwriting session—the beginning of Flora Falls. From that moment on, their creative partnership blossomed, and they embarked on a journey to create a sound that is as intimate as it is powerful.

Their music is a warm embrace—raw, haunting, and laced with moments of humor—inviting listeners into a space of deep vulnerability and authenticity.

On stage, Brea and Dom blur the lines between artist and audience, delivering performances that are as captivating as they are authentic. As they continue their journey through the indie-folk landscape,Flora Fallsinvites their audience on a journey where melodies become memories and stories leave an indelible mark on the heart.

Brendan Lewes

A folk singer who blends the punk rock spirit of protest with the traditions of transatlantic folk.
Lewes hails from the misty moorlands of northern England, where he discovered his passion in the stirring echoes of the punk rock protest anthems of the early 2000s. Now, armed with an acoustic guitar, a harmonica, and a voice reminiscent of the troubadours of yesteryear, he blends the rebellious spirit of his youth with the timeless melodies of folk.

Brendan Lewes has been living in Kiel for nine years now and is a familiar face in clubs and Irish pubs across northern Germany. He uses the stage as a space for cultural exchange, getting to know the culture of his adopted country while offering his music in return.
