Folkwang Tour: The Major Annual Exhibition at the Department of Design  

July 16–19 in the North Quarter at the Zollverein World Heritage Site Campus

This summer, once again, over 300 students from the Department of Design at Folkwang University of the Arts invite you to join them for a tour. With free admission, visitors can look forward to a wide range of media and interdisciplinary artistic and design works. In addition, a diverse supporting program featuring music, dance, and performance will be offered.

The exhibition is organized and curated by Folkwang students from the Department of Design. It has been held since 2018 in the Quartier Nord at the Zollverein World Heritage Site campus.

With its large-scale exhibition, the Folkwang Tour offers a comprehensive insight into the disciplines of photography, industrial design, and intermedia design. Visitors can discover new product trends, forward-looking developments, and multifaceted artistic works by a new generation. The Rundgang embodies Folkwang’s signature interdisciplinary profile through numerous collaborative projects with students from all Folkwang disciplines. The program includes lectures, workshops, as well as musical and literary presentations, dance, and performances. The student shop invites visitors to take a piece of the department home with them—whether it’s ceramics, T-shirts, or prints designed by the students themselves. Many items are also one-of-a-kind or available only in very limited editions.

Anyone interested in studying in the Department of Design can casually chat with Folkwang students during the tour and learn more about the program and the application process.

After the tour comes the Folkwang Finale: From September 24 through October 4, another major exhibition will be on view at the Zollverein World Heritage Site campus. Graduates from the Department of Design will showcase their diverse final projects (Bachelor’s and Master’s) in the SANAA building, with free admission.
