With the photo project "ENDOSCHWESTERN", photographer Andrea Lang draws attention to the chronic disease endometriosis and the lack of information in the healthcare system and society. Every 10th woman is affected, but the disease often goes unrecognized. In Germany, that is around 2 million people. Instead of just showing pain, it celebrates the strength and infinite power of those affected.

I am delighted to finally be able to announce the ENDOSCHWESTERN photo exhibition. An incredible amount of energy, sweat and emotion went into this project. And it was all worth it! ENDOSCHWESTERN was brought to life by me as a photographer and sufferer. The topic is a matter close to my heart, which is about public relations and awareness of the unfortunately underrepresented chronic disease endometriosis. The WHO estimates that around 190 million people are affected worldwide. In addition, up to 40,000 new cases are registered in Germany every year. To give the disease more visibility, I have photographed 45 sufferers, one portrait and one anonymous close-up of the abdomen, real and unretouched. The photographs will be presented at the end of the year. You can find more information about the project and a press release at ENDOSCHWESTERN 2024.
I cordially invite you to the vernissage. There will be a raffle and I have put together a varied program with expert lectures, readings and panel discussions. Spread the word, post, come in large numbers and bring friends (FLINTA* are of course welcome).
