Überseequartier Nord is offering a unique combination as part of the elbe summer with the support of the renowned eye clinic "Smile Eyes": in addition to a four-week photo competition, in which the winning images will be exhibited in large format on Überseeboulevard at the 34th OPEN ART, an exciting weekend awaits you:
Photo workshops and walks with photographer Oliver Hadji will be offered on July 11 and 12, as well as curated tours through our OPEN ART exhibition "Canada- diverse by nature" by and with Krim Grüttner and Reinhard Prinzmeier.

All offers are free of charge for participants.

Photo competition from June 20 to July 19, 2026

The elbsommer photo competition offers the unique opportunity to see your own photography in large format in the next OPEN ART exhibition on Überseeboulevard in HafenCity. How does it work? You have to take part in our photo competition with the theme "Artistic places in HafenCity".

There are no limits to your creativity!

Upload your color photo to Instagram with the hashtag #fotosafari2026, tag @ueberseeboulevard_hafencity and follow the account @ueberseeboulevard_hafencity and you're in. The participation period is from June 20 to July 19 and the winning pictures will be presented to a wide audience on Überseeboulevard open air for around six months from September 2026. In addition to the exhibition of your own picture, you can win the following prizes from 25hours Hotel HafenCity:

1st place: 25hours Hotels voucher (one overnight stay incl. breakfast in a 25hours Hotel of choice; excluded: Jakarta, Sydney, Dubai)

2nd place: heimat Restaurant voucher for the herzstück menu incl. water package (value: EUR 125)

3rd place: 2x breakfast voucher at NENI Hamburg (value: EUR 56)

Portrait workshops on July 11 and 12, 2026:

In this workshop you will learn how to get the perfect portrait. STERN photographer Oliver Hadji will show you his tips and tricks in the rooms of the "Smile Eyes" eye laser center with the support of a specially booked model. You will learn everything about optimal exposure, camera settings, the right technique, etc. and can watch the photographer on a large screen. Of course, all participants can also pick up the camera themselves and put what they have learned directly into practice. It is not necessary to bring your own camera or special knowledge, but it is an advantage.

Photo walks on July 11 and 12, 2026:

We will meet at the Überseeboulevard marketplace in the northern Überseequartier and start our photo walk from here under the guidance of Oliver Hadji. On our discovery tour through HafenCity, we will not only focus our eyes and cameras on the obvious, but rather on the hidden and capture it with our cameras and lenses. The resulting photos can also be entered into this year's elbsommer photo competition, which is organized by Überseequartier and "Smile Eyes". Again, it is not absolutely necessary to bring your own camera, but at least a cell phone camera would be helpful.

About the course instructor Oliver Hadji:
Oliver Hadji has worked for many years as a photographer for internationally renowned magazines such as Stern, Vogue, Vanity Fair, Spiegel, Focus, and many more. He has worked as a photographer in his various home cities of Hamburg, New York and Paris. He created one of his most famous series about his own profession, portraying some of the most famous photographers. We are delighted that Oliver Hadji is supporting our format for the second time to share his knowledge and experience with you.

Artwalks on July 11 and 12, 2026

For the 33rd time, Überseequartier presents the popular open-air photo exhibition "OPEN ART", this time with the theme "CANADA FROM NATURE TO DIVERSITY", a journey through time through Hamburg's youngest district over a 300-meter-long photo series with 50 different motifs by photographers Krim Grüttner and Reinhard Prinzmeier. You can look forward to an exclusive guided tour with special insights and background information on the pictures.

About Krim Grüttner and Reinhard Prinzmeier:

Krim Grüttner and Reinhard Prinzmeier have been passionate about traveling and photography for decades. They have made travel photography their profession thanks to many years of practice and further training with renowned photographers and in digital photo editing. They like living in Hamburg, but are always drawn to deserted areas and the "end of the world". As a couple, they enjoy their shared interests and are constantly developing them further.

Since the beginning of the century, they have traveled to China, Namibia, Australia and New Zealand as well as North and South America, Greenland and many European countries. Since 2015, they have been traveling up to nine months a year on photo trips in their camper van. Spectacular landscapes and wildlife spotting have become an essential part of their adventurous life.

While traveling, they publish their experiences almost daily on their photo travel blog Herumkommer.de. They take their readers with them virtually and share the best photos and interesting impressions from their travels. Recent overseas destinations include the national parks of the USA, especially Yellowstone, as well as Alaska and again Canada.

Krim and Reinhard have published around a dozen photo books with the online publisher Blurb.
