Two stories, written 13 years apart, combine in Ab durch die Mitte to create an impressive allegory of our times. While "In the beginning was the egg..." (2012) celebrates the freedom of growing up, "Ab durch die Mitte..." (2025) takes stock of social developments and resistance to increasing fascism. Together, they stand for the conviction that those who have grown up in freedom will not be intimidated - ever.
On the evening, which combines a reading/conversation and a vernissage, Heiko Ackermann, theologian and religion teacher at Ratsgymnasium, will lead the discussion with Frank Naumann and Corinna Zander. The moderated discussion will shed light on the creation, visual language and social references of the book - as well as the question of how art can show attitude and encourage reflection on freedom and responsibility.
The picture book for adults by Frank Naumann (drawings) and Corinna Zander (idea + text) has been published by quartus-Verlag (Bucha near Jena). The first 40 copies come with a numbered and signed aquatint etching "R.I.P." on Hahnemühle handmade paper.
Accompanying the book launch, the original pictures will be presented in a small exhibition in the music room of the Kultur: Haus Dacheröden.
