Lied.concert: Maximilian Schmitt
A man wanders through an icy, pale winter landscape. He is a stranger, a homeless person who has long since given up searching in the knowledge that all happiness has been lost to him. "Stranger I have moved in", it says right at the beginning - and in the very next verse: "Stranger I move out again". In between lies the attempt to arrive in a place, to live in a city, to be with other people, to find a "sweetheart". But all this belongs to the past. With Franz Schubert's Winterreise, tenor Maximilian Schmitt - already celebrated as Lohengrin in Hanover this season - and his renowned accompanist Gerold Huber dedicate themselves to a milestone in the Romantic song repertoire: a journey into the abysses of a lonely soul that gets under your skin.
