Canadian songwriter and singer Frazey Ford is back with a special vinyl reissue of her acclaimed album Indian Ocean (release date: September 19). The digital edition also includes three previously unreleased covers recorded in the original sessions - a new perspective on an album that has captivated centers of attention for over a decade.

"In many ways, Indian Ocean defined a phase of life for me," Ford explains. "It wasn't until the release of this album that I felt I was truly coming into my glow as a solo artist." The making of the album took Ford from Vancouver to Memphis, where she worked with Al Green's band, The Hi Rhythm Section, at Royal Studios. This collaboration gave the work its unmistakable groove - a combination of folk, soul and R&B that still characterizes the sound today.

Original recordings were revisited for the reissue: three previously unreleased tracks - The Happy Song (Dum-Dum), a cover version by Otis Reading, and a new version of Van Morrision's "Crazy Love" - have been added, along with a reinterpreted version of Ann Peebles' "Trouble, Heartaches & Sadness". Ford describes this as a tribute to the musicians who have accompanied her along the way, especially Teenie Hodges, whose influence remains palpable.

Indian Ocean is considered a defining chapter in Frazey Ford's career: a timeless blend of soul, folk and R&B that is still finding new listeners eleven years on. Highlights such as the hopeful opener "September Fields" and the iconic "Done" show the breadth of her emotional song world. The re-release offers fans the opportunity to relive this journey - with fresh material that captures the spirit of the original.

Frazey Ford has also announced a tour of Germany in May 2026, where she will perform her Indian Ocean set and selected new tracks live. Fans can look forward to an intense concert experience that will bring the timeless blend of folk, soul and R&B to life again in intimate, powerful live moments.
