Roberto Fonseca, born in Havana in 1975, is regarded as the most important Cuban pianist of his generation. He earned his spurs when he succeeded Rubén González in the Buena Vista Social Club in over 400 concerts worldwide from 2001 onwards. By working with legends such as Ibrahim Ferrer and Omara Portuondo, he was able to study the roots and richness of the musical heritage of the Caribbean island. At the same time, Roberto Fonseca felt strongly attracted to American-style jazz from an early age and gained important impulses as a sideman for stars such as Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter and Brian Blade. This explains why he combines jazz, jungle, drum 'n' bass, funk and soul with his Afro-Cuban roots in his own compositions like no other. But above all, Roberto Fonseca is one thing: a live act. On stage, the Cuban breaks all chains, sweeps everyone off their feet and floods the room with his pure, exuberant joy of playing. Accompanied by bassist Felipe Cabrera and drummer Ruly Herrera, Fonseca and his trio deliver virtuoso music full of joy, wit and Latin groove!
