"Tears of Things"

The starting point of the work is the personal experience of living in a state of ongoing war, far from home. Tears of Things was created as an ongoing collection of what remained tangible at the moment of shock - images, text fragments, objects, actions. The work reflects on how war, loss, migration and colonial power structures inscribe themselves into landscapes, bodies and family spaces and how the familiar becomes alien under pressure.

The D21 Kunstraum is entering its second round with f/stop - Fotomonat and is dedicated to the "young local photography scene". 2026 graduates of art colleges from the Central German region were invited to present photographic works that were created as final projects in the context of the current annual theme "ALIEN".
