FUCKING TRUFFAUT

In the organizer's words:
"Every film about war ends up being pro-war" (François Truffaut).

Fucking Truffaut by Bliadski Circus Queebaret for Maxim Gorki Theater, directed by Ukrainian director Roza Sarkisian, asks questions such as: Can we explore and discover new narratives of war discourse? Is critical art possible in times when the whole culture has been put on a propaganda track? How can we escape the cycle of reproduction of artistic militaristic discourse? Does society need theater when kamikaze drones are flying over our heads? To explore the answers to these questions, Bliadski Circus Queebaret's practice does not start from a discourse of trauma, but from a performance of possibilities. In doing so, Queebaret turns discourses, experiences, and representations of war on their head. The evening's special guest is Antonina Romanova - a Ukrainian queer artist and trans soldier - who will connect to Berlin via the internet to present the world premiere of Queebaret from the front line.

In English and Ukrainian with German surtitles.
