Führung durch das ehemalige Schauspielhaus

In the organizer's words:

Event details

Many Erfurt residents still have fond memories of the former Schauspielhaus. But after its closure in 2003, hardly anyone has set foot in it again. After years of vacancy and uncertainty, the KulturQuartier Schauspielhaus initiative is bringing life back to the old walls. Built at the end of the 19th century as a clubhouse, used as a municipal office during the war, home to the first German dance theater and from 1949 the venue of the municipal theaters, the listed building looks back on an exciting history. Immerse yourself with us in 120 years of building history and 70 years of the Schauspielhaus. On a tour, you can gain your own impression of the state of the building. We will also take a look into the future with you and explain how the association and cooperative KulturQuartier will develop the Schauspielhaus back into a lively cultural venue. Together with our partners Kinoklub, Tanztheater Erfurt and Radio F.R.E.I., this forgotten gem in the heart of the city will once again become what it always was: a vibrant center for art and culture.

Renovation work is taking place in the basement, which means that some areas of the theater cannot be visited at the moment. Please also wear sturdy shoes.
