Führung durch die Ausstellung "Ludger Gerdes: Synkategoremata" und Fahrradtour zu "Schiff für Münster" von Ludger Gerdes mit Lisa Petersohn

In the organizer's words:

Ludger Gerdes would have turned 70 in 2024, and the Kunsthalle Münster would like to take this as an opportunity to focus on his work and contextualize it with an exhibition Synkategoremata in the Stadthausgalerie. In 1987, Ludger Gerdes realized his first large site-specific work for the public space with Schiff für Münster as part of Skulptur Projekte. The artwork consists of a brick-built island in the shape of a ship, surrounded by a moat and covered with grass. On the stern is a wooden column architecture, two poplars in the middle of the island provide shade. The installation is located on Münster's border with its rural surroundings. The ship is reminiscent of the barges on the Dortmund-Ems Canal. Gerdes uses narrative imagery to place his art in a tangible context with the world.

In the guided tour, Lisa Petersohn provides insights into Gerdes' artistic positions and, after viewing the Synkategoremata exhibition, invites you on a bicycle tour to his ship for Münster.

Please bring your own bike. It is not necessary to register in advance.
