To mark the 25th anniversary of Wolfgang Peuker's death, the Stiftung Kunstforum Berliner Volksbank is showing the exhibition KLASSE IN WEIßENSEE! Wolfgang Peuker and his students. It honors the artistic legacy of the important painter of the Leipzig School and presents his last series of works from his time in Berlin, where he influenced numerous young artists as a professor at the weißensee kunsthochschule berlin in the 1990s.

Peuker's Berlin pictures, both portraits of people and architectural portraits, use dark tones and highly symbolic motifs to address issues that still concern us today: How do we deal with our history? How do we reflect social tensions and upheavals? How do we assert our identity in times of uncertainty?

His works are complemented by works by four of his students: Stefanie Hillich, Sibylle Prange, Philipp Schack and Christian Thoelke.

During a guided tour with Sibylle Prange and Christian Thoelke, you will learn first-hand what Wolfgang Peuker was like as a teacher and as a person and how he encouraged his students to find their artistic identity.

A rare opportunity for anyone interested in painting, art teaching and East German art history between the GDR era and reunification.

The guided tour lasts approximately one hour and is included in the admission price (5 euros, reduced 3 euros). Pre-registration is not necessary.
