A club performance between the generations

Performance project by the Kulturhaus Schwartzsche Villa with the Syndikat Gefährliche Liebschaften and TanzTangente

It's been 13 years since the lights went out in one of the city's most popular clubs. But when the name POP INN is mentioned, eyes still light up. Berlin youth history was written here from 1960 to 2013. For many, the club was their first love. Jazz, beat, disco, hard rock, pop and R&B - the Pop Inn reinvented itself again and again over the decades. The constant: parties for young people were officially possible in the senate-owned youth club. Today the building is empty. The art collective Syndikat Gefährliche Liebschaften is bringing the old neon sign from Ahornstraße 15a a few meters further into the TanzTangente studios. There, we are bringing the legendary youth disco back to life together with old and new fans of this place!

We invite everyone to experience with us what made the Pop Inn a legend - and how this legend can be continued. In our newly imagined club space, generations, music, dance styles and perspectives will mingle in a joint celebration. The youth of the past meets the youth of today. Disco meets TikTok. Memories of good times meet wishes for vacant rooms. And, as always, the neon light goes on far too early.

Around the performance, a surprise bar awaits you in the TanzTangente courtyard with talks and changing bar staff as well as an exhibition with interviews to listen to.
