On May 14, we are celebrating 1 year of G Sessions at Gretchen - a musical experiment in which boundaries don't matter and encounters take center stage.
At our G Sessions, musicians from the most diverse scenes come together. What connects them? Absolute openness. No genre boundaries, but a 360° setup that brings musical diversity right into the middle of the crowd and creates closeness - open, spontaneous and always in the moment.
Hosted by the Outernationals, every evening thrives on improvisation and special constellations on stage.
Singer and composer Mirna Bogdanović combines experimental sounds with jazz-influenced vocals, effects and beats to create her own unique sound. She explores harmonic possibilities with great curiosity and combines her voice with acoustic and electronic soundscapes to create a sound world characterized by jazz and avant-pop. Bogdanović studied classical piano and jazz singing at various music academies throughout Europe and completed her studies at the Jazz Institute Berlin (2017). Awarded the German Jazz Prize for her albums "Confrontation" and "Awake", Bogdanović stands for a new, courageous voice in contemporary jazz.
NAYMA is a Berlin-based pop duo founded by singer-songwriters Irma Neumüller from Sweden and Teresa Luna from Argentina. The two met while studying at the Jazz Institut Berlin, where their musical connection quickly developed into a creative partnership. With roots in jazz and a shared love of songwriting, they began composing together and found the process surprisingly fluid, almost as if they were speaking the same language. This intuitive flow led to the formation of NAYMA: a project in which their voices, backgrounds and ideas come together in a unique blend of pop, soul and subtle jazz influences.
Black Sumo is the instrumental hip-hop alias of KRTS, aka Kurtis Hairston, a Pittsburgh-raised artist who found his way to Berlin via Brooklyn. The project combines classic boom-bap with elements of fusion jazz and modern instrumental hip-hop. The sound is raw, atmospheric and at the same time multi-layered, characterized by warm Rhodes and piano sounds, dusty drums and dense, spherical textures. His album "Clarity", a mixture of introspective soundscapes and head-nodding beats, has been announced for May. The project also goes beyond typical beatmaking live: live keys, looping, effects and precise finger drumming create a dynamic set that combines organic musicality with modern production aesthetics.
