Since 2018, GA-20 has been at the forefront of a traditional blues renaissance. The dynamic retro trio have long been fans of the intersection between traditional blues, country and rock 'n' roll. "We make records that we'd like to hear ourselves," says guitarist Matt Stubbs. "It's our interpretation of the song-based traditional electric blues that we love." Stubbs, along with guitarist and vocalist Cody Nilsen and drummer Josh Kiggans, strive to bring traditional blues to the forefront of the modern roots music scene. "Our focus has always been on story, melody and creating a mood," Stubbs continues. "Traditional country and soul have seen a massive revival recently. We want to be part of that by doing the same for traditional blues music."

GA-20 has taken inspiration for its old-school sound from the music they love, from artists like Otis Rush, J.B. Lenoir, Howlin' Wolf, Junior Wells, Hound Dog Taylor, Earl Hooker, Johnny "Guitar" Watson and many others. GA-20 plays with a kind of reckless abandon, giving each song a timeless immediacy with a sound that is constantly evolving. The band uses vintage instruments and amplifiers to create their authentic sound and favors traditional recording techniques, such as recording live in a room, to recreate that energy and sonic connection.

In their short history, GA-20 has topped the Billboard Blues Charts three times, won the Boston Music Award for Best Blues Act four times, and received multiple awards and nominations at the Blues Music Awards, Blues Blast Awards, and New England Blues Awards. They have also climbed the streaming and radio charts both domestically and internationally.
