Nobel Prize winner Gabriel García Márquez, also known as Gabo, is one of the most famous writers in the world and is celebrated as a national hero in his native Colombia. His works "One Hundred Years of Solitude" and "Love in the Time of Cholera" in particular brought him worldwide fame. In the documentary "Gabriel García Márquez - Writing to Live", the writer and admirer of Gabo, Juan Gabriel Vásquez, follows in the footsteps of Gabo's life and seeks answers to the question of how the son of a simple telegraph operator from a small Colombian village managed to change 20th century Western literature with his works.
