They were the English band that played the Starclub in Hamburg at the beginning of 1963 after the Beatles. In 1964, they broke all records with their second single 'The House Of The Rising Sun' and were the second British band - again after the Beatles - to reach the top of the charts in the USA. This was followed by immortal blues-rock numbers such as "Bring It On Home To Me", "We Gotta Get Out Of This Place", "Don't Bring Me Down" and "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood".
The visual and acoustic centerpiece of the band at the time was the incomparable singer Eric Burdon. They split up for the first time at the end of 1966, but soon reunited as "Eric Burdon & The New Animals". In February, Burdon left the band for good to pursue a solo career.
The Animals are still around today and with drummer John Steel, there is still someone at the start who experienced the big time.
Their songs are immortal anyway.
