With his unmistakable sound and deeply felt musicality, Gautier Capuçon is one of the leading cellists of our time. In this concert he presents two solo works for cello: Saint-Saëns' passionate Cello Concerto No. 1, a work full of virtuosity and emotional depth, and Fauré's poignant Élégie, which impressively showcases his flair for lyrical intensity. Accompanied by the Royal Scottish National Orchestra conducted by Aziz Shokhakimov, the result is a moving interplay that focuses on the magic of the cello's sound before Brahms' most famous symphony is played.
