GEBEN&GEBEN, das solidarische Festival für Kunst Handwerk & Design mit Konzert von Kim Hoss

GEBEN&GEBEN, das solidarische Festival für Kunst Handwerk & Design mit Konzert von Kim Hoss

In the organizer's words:

GEBEN&GEBEN, the solidarity festival for art, craft and design, will open its doors for the 4th time in July 2024 at the DIESELSTRASSE cultural center in Esslingen/Neckar.

From Friday 26.07. to Sunday 28.07.2024, around 20 creative minds from art, craft and design will be exhibiting a wide range of products: From jewelry to fashion, upcycling and ceramics, painting and lifestyle products, there is something for everyone.
And because the name of the festival also says it all, 10% of the total turnover will be donated to the Amadeu Antonio Foundation.

The event presents itself as a forum where young labels and players in the art and creative scene in particular can present themselves and network with each other, setting an example of solidarity.

All in all, visitors can expect a selection of unusual, handmade and exclusive products from self-employed people and labels from the region, true to the motto: low quantity - high quality and individuality.
Culinary delights (hot/cold drinks & food) and culture (DJs/a live concert) as well as a lovingly designed outdoor area provide a charming setting for the event, creating a festival for all the senses.

Opening hours:
Friday, 26.07.2024: 18:00 - 21:00 (welcome 18:30 then sale)
Saturday, 27.07.2023: 12 - 6 p.m. (followed by: live concert Kim Hoss)
Sunday, 28.07.2023: 11 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Solidary admission price: 2 - 5 €
Admission for concert only: 5 €

The festival is an event of the cultural center DIESELSTRASSE in cooperation with the initiative GEBEN&GEBEN.

Partner organization:
Our partner organization this year is the Amadeu Antonio Foundation.

Since its establishment in 1998, the Amadeu Antonio Foundation has aimed to strengthen a democratic civil society that consistently opposes right-wing extremism, racism and anti-Semitism.
To this end, it supports initiatives and projects that are continuously committed to a democratic culture and advocate the protection of minorities. The foundation provides uncomplicated support and distributes the money specifically where it is most urgently needed.
Beyond financial support, the Amadeu Antonio Foundation's most important task is to create awareness for committed people on the ground and to put the issue of right-wing extremism on the agenda in the long term.

Background:
The festival stems from the GIVE&GIVE initiative, which was launched in March 2020 by Ellen Weber-Mack from Esslingen in response to the first coronavirus-related lockdown. Concern for the common good of society, coupled with the threat to her own business, prompted the self-employed master goldsmith to contact like-minded fellow sufferers and convince them of her idea of making special "artefacts of solidarity" and donating 10% of her turnover to various partner organizations.
A total of around 20 self-employed artists, craftspeople and designers came together, who networked and promoted each other via digital channels. Within two years, they collectively generated an impressive turnover of over €26,000 and thus generated over €2,600 in donations, which were passed on proportionally to the German Red Cross, SOS Children's Villages Worldwide, Wildwasser Stuttgart e.V. and Doctors Without Borders.
A special highlight was the premiere of the GEBEN&GEBEN trade fair in 2021, where the creative minds met in person for the first time and presented their products to an interested audience. Enthusiastic feedback from exhibitors, visitors and the press (see attached article) quickly convinced organizer Ellen Weber-Mack to host the event again in 2022, develop it further in 2023 and now hold it every year.
