Gedenken an die Deportationen

In the organizer's words:

"Deported" to their deaths: commemorating the deportations from Hanover

On December 15, 1941, 1001 Jews from Hanover and the surrounding area were deported from Fischerhof station to Riga; only 69 survived the deportation and persecution. On the 83rd anniversary of the largest deportation from Hanover, all the victims who were deported in the seven transports via Fischerhof station to Riga, Warsaw, Auschwitz and Theresienstadt are commemorated. Other people were also deported from Hanover via the old Möhringsberg goods station.

Pupils from the Humboldt School will prepare and accompany the commemorative event. The school took over the sponsorship of the commemoration at the memorial on the 75th anniversary of the Riga deportation in 2016. This will be followed by a wreath-laying ceremony and the Kaddish of the Jewish Community of Hanover.

The event is organized by the Hannover Region and the ZeitZentrum Zivilcourage for the state capital of Hannover.
