The affinity of anti-modernism to völkisch nationalism was already analyzed at the beginning of the last century. Today it is hardly ever discussed. The mass protests of lateral thinkers, Reichsbewegten and right-wing extremists seem to be over. However, the social class with anti-modern ideas that feeds off them is growing, and has also become younger and more feminized - not only in Germany, but throughout Europe. The radical nature of their attitudes does not just begin with plans to storm the Bundestag or sabotage the electricity grid. It begins with the questioning of reality and the rejection of the rule of law and ends with the delegitimization of democracy.

The new book by right-wing extremism expert Andreas Speit will be published by Ch.Links-Verlag on March 12.

Andreas Speit, born in 1966, is a journalist and author. He studied social sciences, writes for the taz and Zeit Online, among others, and works for WDR and Deutschlandfunk Kultur. He has received awards for his work from medium magazin and the German Journalists' Association. He is a lecturer at the federal and state centers for political education, the German Trade Union Federation, the Friedrich Ebert and Heinrich Böll Foundations and the ARD and ZDF Media Academy. Most recently, he published "Verqueres Denken. Dangerous world views in alternative milieus".

The reading is organized by Gegen den Strom. The political series has been promoting political education for 20 years and offers a free lecture and discussion format in Hagen.
