Potato is a normal - well - potato and lives her everyday life like everyone else. Until one day, strange things happen. Wasn't avocado the undisputed superfood until just now? The world seems to be shaking. Or is it the potato that's wobbling?
GEMUSICAL tells the story of Potato's journey to find herself. With the help of her friend Tom and the Mycelium Network Center System, Potato confronts her memories and a story that is much more complex than she thought. How did the potato become a symbol for Germany, even though it originated in South America? Musically and performatively, notsopretty negotiates colonial practices such as cultural appropriation, the invisibilization of history and the delegitimization of oral traditions. With songs, choreography and absurd scenes, the international ensemble brings a humorous and sharp-witted satire of today's society to the stage, which may even leave you with a catchy tune or two.
GEMUSICAL will be developed and performed in four languages: English, German, Portuguese and Spanish. Some scenes will be surtitled.
